Asking help from Senator Sessions for your G-card is like asking help from Bil Ladan to wipe out islamic terrorism. I w'd be extremely curious to read his reponse if you get one at all.
This guy was talking about benefits of legal immigration and introducing Canada/Australia style G-card system only a few weeks ago when law makers were discussing illegal immigration. When it came to legal immigration, then he stood against it like a wall of ice. Talk of people using divide and rule, he is the perfect example of that.
On a sad note, it seems even Dems are doing the same thing. When Cornyn wanted to put our bill in India Nuke bill, Joe Biden said dems will take that up along with CIR next jan. Same old game of promises and betrayal. Now even dems will not be taking up CIR next year as this has been turned into a very sentimental issue now by Lou dobbs and his xenophobic racist gang. Did not you see Nancy Pelosi's agenda for january? They are worried about their presidential and house races in 2008 and don't want to take any chance. Harry Reid might say this is one of the first things on his agenda next year and Tad Kennedy and McCain might keep meeting and talking over a cup of tea, but we have seen all this drama so many times that it does not thrill us any more.
Bottomline, we are not needed the way we used to be in '70s and '80's and so be contended with the current pace of g-card processing. If you have patience and luck, stay here, else leave.

1. "W2 Self-employed" is an oxymoron. Self-employed option is possible through 1099. Nowhere on the Yates memo (or any other USCIS resource) does it say that you have to be on a "permanent" job. You sure can be self-employed (i.e., not on a W2) with AC21 provision, as the Yates memo clearly says.

If you want to reduce your liability, you can open an LLC, which gives you the freedom of filing your income taxes either as a "Sole Proprietor," a "C-Corp," or an "S-Corp." I applied for the first time in 2001, and then in 2005 (due to relocation) and ended up at the backlog center. Another relocation and now my PD is March 2007, and these recent wannabes want Perm approved in 1 month, I-140 premium processing in few days and then onto I-485 which should be current with no retrogression. Amen !! When do you want the USCIS to bend over for you?

Also issue of discrepancy of EB2-I and EB3-I is raised first time that is after Aug VB. But I think it will fade away after oct VB when normal processing starts as diff in PD between EB3 and EB2 will be 1 or 2 years and each category will have equal Visa numbers for 9 months.
Also the issue of recapture was raised when in 2005 the dates were retrogressed . But I think the issue will fade away after 2014 when most of the categories will be either current or near current.
PS; I am a strong proponent of recapture but such insensitive post to EB3 plight deserves such a response.

However, please understand, we are asking for "fair" and "equitable" treatment for those who are already inside the country and devoted sufficient time of their life here. To me this means "justice." I can very well relate to your desperation and anger, but please don't react emotionally. The legal or technical fact remains that no-one guranteed us GC and truth of the matter is most of us said "No" when immigration officer asked " do you have plans to settle in State?" So their is no question of equitable treatment.

Now is the time to ask for "rights" for our contribution.. No Sir, I can't say thier is conspiracy as I know of none. What do you mean by "not allow them to work"? Actually AC-21 weaken the case you are mentioning. Since pending/approved I-140 allows extension of H-1 indefinitely, that alone takes your point away.

Even with AC-21, one is restricted to the field in which one originally applied for EB visa. Actually, because it is indefinite, it makes the case stronger that these people are here indefinitely and so should not be restricted in employment oppurtunities. Being for a temporary period, obviously one can be restricted any way, like say people on visitor visa not being allowed to work.
When I was on H-1, that time one couldn't extend beyond 6 years, no matter what. Now, case is much different. There are so many working for the employer just on the basis of I-140 alone after 6 years of H1.
